Top Outdoor Movie Events

Lights, Camera, Action

Summer is coming to a close, but that doesn’t mean we have to stop having fun! Outdoor movies are a great way to hang with loved ones and enjoy a magical night under the Los Angeles stars. With our incredible SoCal weather, it’s no wonder there are so many outdoor movie events throughout the city to choose from.

Tips and Tricks

We know outdoor movie-going sounds like a walk in the park, but being totally organized and prepared can take your experience to the next level, making it that much more enjoyable. We want to help guide you before you even go, so that, once you’re there, you can make the most of your cinematic, alfresco adventure.

Check the Weather
Yes, we do live in beautiful and sunny southern California and summer nights in LA are unlike anywhere else. But it helps to be ready for those nights when the temperature does drop — and quickly. Pack a blanket and sweater so you won’t get caught off guard (it might be hard to hear the movie over your own teeth chattering!) and cozy up to watch your fav flick.

Seating Situation
Some venues have seating while others are picnic style. It always helps to find out what the setup is like at the venue you’re planning to go to. Usually, a blanket and some cushions or pillows will work for any situation. We strongly suggest that you DO NOT bring taller camping chairs. They can block the view for other attendees, which may upset them. Some venues even have height restrictions for chairs. We suggest looking into that beforehand as well.

Food + Drinks
At some of these venues, there are a ton of food vendors and at others you can bring in your own dinner. When it comes to enjoying an adult beverage with your movie, we recommend checking ahead to see what is allowed and what is prohibited. Either, we always recommend bringing some snacks and water.

Parking
As with many popular venues and events in our great city, parking can sometimes be tricky. Do your homework and find out if parking is free, cash only, or accepts cards. Some events offer on-site parking passes for an additional fee when purchasing the movie tickets. Be prepared to sit in a line of traffic for some as everyone is trying to get home at the same time. These are ideal events for ride sharing!

All the extras
One thing we love about these events is that some of them include extra entertainment along with the movie. From dance performances and live bands to scavenger hunts and carnival games, a lot of these venues offer more than just the flick. Be sure to check ahead so you don’t miss out on the extra fun!

Now that you’re fully informed, grab your lawn chair, blanket, and popcorn and get ready for our ultimate Pardee List of Outdoor Movies.
